The ICAA-conferences

International Conference on Aluminum Alloys

The first ICAA conference was held in Charlottesville, Virginia, USA in 1986 as a tribute to the 100th anniversary of the Hall-Heroult process for electrolysis of Aluminium.

In the nineties, there was an increasing scientific interest in the use of Sc as an alloying element in Al-alloys. This is well reflected in the ICAA-proceedings: in the 1990 conference in Beijing, China, only three papers were presented on Sc-containing Al-alloys. The number of Al-Sc related papers increased steadily during the 1990's to a level of between 20 and 30 for the last five conferences(ICAA7 through ICAA11).
