Searching

• For searching the web, I normally start at Alta Vista. If I can't finde it there, I might try browsing Yahoo or Lycos. Net Search is also pretty useful, as they have lots of search-links.

• Internet Address Finder is just what it says, and it claims to be the biggest e-mail address directory of the web. There are others, Yahoo has a huge list.

• For U.S. Zip-codes, try USPS ZIP Code Lookup. For a similar service in Norway, the one and only Posten gives it to you.

• Yellow Pages: Global, Norwegian, U.S., and another U.S. directory, this one has cool maps!

• BIBSYS searches all the university libraries of Norway, and the UVa library has finally put its VIRGO on the web.

• Encyclopædia Britannica, need I say more?

News and Newspapers

Norwegian

• Aftenposten has a fairly good and updated news- section.

• Dagbladet has some interesting stuff once in a while.

• VG is mostly garbage, and it is quite embarrasing that this newspaper has the highest circulation in Norway. They have football results on-line, though.

• Regional and other newspapers: Adresseavisen, BA Bergensavisen, Dag og Tid, Dagens Næringsliv, Fædrelandsvennen and Stavanger Aftenblad.

• TV and Radio: Good old NRK has news from Text-TV, and P4 radio is also very updated.

• Not satisfied? Try Newsman, Nettvik's news-hunter.

Other countries

• Jornal do Brasil and Folha de São Paulo are two of the biggest Brazilian newspapers.

• The Charlottesville and Albemarle Observer is a local newspaper in Virginia, New York Times, The Washington Post and USA Today are slightly bigger.

• CNN News is very updated, but also very populistic. My neighbours (yes, I live next door) NBC 29 cover the local events in Charlottesville.

Universities

• This collection of College and University Home Pages should cover most of what is on-line.
