Nansen, Fridtjof, 10. okt. 1861-13. mai 1930, norsk vitenskapsmann, humanist og diplomat; Foretok 1888 i løpet av 42 dager en skiferd over Grønlands innlandsis til vestkysten. 1893-96 ledet han en ekspedisjon med polarskipet Fram fra Sibirkysten mot Nordpolen.

Til ekspedisjonen 1893-96 utviklet Nansen et kokeapparat som utnyttet all varmen fra det dengang revolusjonerende nye primus apparatet. Illustrasjonene forklarer hvordan varmen ble nyttet til koking og smelting av is/snø samtidig. Parafinkokeapparatet medførte mye spart vekt da energiinnholde i parafin er mye større enn i sprit.
Nansens
kokeapparat er "nylig" gjenoppdaget under utvikling av utstyr til det
svært forsinkede prosjektet Soldat 2000
Børge Ausland brukte også noe
lignende på sin ekpedisjon av lene på ski over Nordpolen.

Nansen, Fridtjof, 1861, Okt.10..-1930, May13. Norwegian scientist, humanist and diplomat. Went across Greenland by ski on a 48 days expedition in 1888. 1893-96 he froze the polarship Fram in the ice and went with the ice from the Siberian coast towards the North pole.
To
this expedition he invented the stove later known as the Nansen
cooker.
The stove was based on the new invention the primus-stove. On
top of this he made a shield containing several utensils to use all of the
heat to cook and to melt snow and ice. The cooker was made of nickel
silver.
The
cooker was described in his 1. edition of "Fram over Polhavet (1897)" but not in
later.
This cooker ahs recently been rediscovered by the Norwegin forces during the preparation of the delayed project "Soldier 2000" And Børge Ausland used somthing based on the same idea on his singel man ski expedition across the North Pole.
