Arvinger is another band from Norway that delivers Black Metal. They exist since 2000, don't have yet any official releases, just some demo recordings and "Helgards Fall" is the first really "professional" effort of the band to find a contract perhaps… Themselves claim to have decided to release this promo after many people's demand for new songs. Well, I don't know if this is true, but I liked their music a lot. This is not "true pure Norwegian Black Metal", but a mixture of Black Metal, some heavy riffs, epic touches, dark keys, a little fiddle and a little female vocals (in one track or two), resulting to a very good disc. The band seems to know what to do with its ideas, so all these good elements are combined cleverly, even impressing sometimes. Some songs reminded me of Einherjer and a little bit of old Enslaved, while other moments the evilness of Darkthrone and the dark atmosphere of Gehenna were brought to my mind. Don't be fooled, this is a totally epic Black Metal album, it's just that it contains some other nice things too, which give it the necessary complexity. Great!
