Bad Luck was started in february of 1993,by Odd Svendsen (guitars and lead and backing vocals) and Olve Venås,(bass and backing vocals) whom had been playing together in a band called Cadillac Coffin, in Oslo. Due to musical differencies, they chose to leave the band in January 1993, to form a band where they could play the kind of music that they felt comfortable with, hard, heavy blues-based rock in the vein of Jimi Hendrix and Cream etc.
They found a very good drummer by the name of Morten Kullblikk, and started rehearsing. On March 6, just five weeks later, Bad Luck gave their first concert at Brygga pub in Molde, hired by Snorre MC-club for their winter-party (vinterblot). After this, Morten bailed out and Odd and Olve started looking for another drummer who could fill Morten's shoes, without any luck, so they went separate ways and did hired-axe jobs, for numerous other bands the following year.
Odd was getting more and more addicted to both drugs and alcohol during this period of time and got so sick, he very nearly died from this.Two years later after being fully recovered from his nasty habits, Odd decided to move back to Fredrikstad where he started playing under the Bad Luck moniker again.
This time with more determination than ever, he teamed up with Thomas Pettersen (drums), trying numerous bass-players before ending up with Ole-Jens Hovda.(bass and backing vocals). After a short time Thomas got seriously ill, and after having a brain-tumour removed, he could not have any form of loud sounds around him, so he was not up for the task of getting behind the drums again. Odd and Ole-Jens therefore got a stand-in for Thomas, by the name of Kim Alex Lieberknecht, whom did only one gig with the band and that was it for him. Odd called up old friend Magnus Bekkevold and asked him to join the band and Magnus (MÆNGUS) stayed with the band for three and a half years.
THEN, Thomas was called up again, and this time, feeling better than ever, he joined the band and did his first gig with Bad Luck, after just a week's notice, and ONE rehearsal, at Sleipner MC-club's autumn-party. This is the Bad Luck line-up which you will be seeing for the 2004 tour, and the band will be going into the studio to make their first recording in three years, early this spring.
