Hoi; here we go !
Swallow The Sun is yet an pretty unknown band.. Would you give a brief introduction of your music, and at the same time tell the readers of your role in the band?
To put it short, we play melodic doom/death-metal. Or doomy death-metal, as some have called it. I handle the keyboards in the band.
The Morning Never Came is one of the best records so far this year, I really love the tasty mixture of doom, death and melody, any second thoughts on the records, and anything would have done different?
I'm very satisfied with the album, and no, there's not much that I would've done differently. Of course there are some little things here and there that could have been played a little better or arranged differently, but nothing serious.
Its clearly one of the best debuts this year, very thigh and very professional. The productio n is excellent, all in all, you must?ve been involved in a few bands before, please tell a bit about any of your previous bands, or any other bands you currently play in.
Thank you. The bands we have played or still play in include Plutonium Orange, Funeris Nocturnum, Enter My Silence, Trollheim's Grott, Obscurant and Morningstar, and some other bands/projects.
How have the response been so far?
Almost surprisingly good.
Have you played any live shows yet? Any plans to?
Yeah, we are going to play our first gig 12.12.2003 at Turku. Hopefully there will be a lot more gigs soon, as we made a deal with a booking agency a while ago.
Did you get any offers from other companies but Firebox, and how are they treating you? Good promotion?
We didn't really send out the demo to the record companies, and Firebox was one of the first ones to contact us. We waited for a few months before signing a deal with them, and I'm extremely pleased with their work.
The music on The Morning Never Came unmistakably have a red line, is it written by one of the band members or all of you?
The basic song structures are all composed by Raivio, but the final arrangements are by all of us, so there's naturally certain sameness within the songs.
So, how long is it since the songs on The Morning Never Came was written?
Some of the songs, such as Through Her Silvery Body, date back to 2000, but most of them have been written during the years 2002 and 2003.
Swallow The Sun is a funny name.. Where did that come from?
From our little drunken heads. No, actually we had some ideas for the name, and some words, with which we started to work. I can't exactly recall who came up with Swallow the Sun but we all liked that. It had the adequately apocalyptic tone in it, and can be interpreted in various ways. If my memory serves me right, at one point we had ssome other great names though up, but were too drunk to remember any of them by the morning.
What are thy lyrics on The Morning Never Came about?

They are mainly horror stories, about dead or undead beautiful women and the last days of mankind.
Thanks for the interview! Any closing words?
Let's Metal!
Eh.. Ja. Let's metal.. Until next time (og et sekssiders intervju med While Heaven Wept, GLED DERE!), så koser vi oss med debutskiva til Swallow The sun, "The Morning Never Came". Les omtale en annen plass på siden.
