I just remembered my old web page I made back
in school. I figured I'd use it for blog space since I've started tricking
now and it's always nice to record ones progress. I guess I'll update
the "about me" link as well and keep the "My Art"
and "File" section =p |
If you find your way here, don't forget to leave your mark in the guestbook! =)

a perfect Aerial :) Click
meh! Still sore as hell in the legs. I decided I'd go to karate practice anyway. Partially because I can't bear sitting still for much longer and partially because after karate I can use the gymnasium to do whatever I want. The karate session was very tough on the legs this time. Many kicks and katas. It was scary because this is the first time I really couldn't PUSH myself through it all.. My legs just wouldn't do 100% what I wanted them to... After the karate session I thought I'd stick around anyway because I just can't wait til I get backtucks. A stupid move since I couldn't even walk properly. All the backflips where terrible because I couldn't push well enough with my legs and without height, there goes the time to get the technique right. I tried a few handsprings. Equally horrible. I got around well but no matter how hard I tried I my legs wouldn't carry me through the move... On the positive side, Maria and her cartwheels are getting better. Slow and steady wins the race. More momentum and they're yours! Well then, I guess I'll rest properly for a few
days now then... Words can't explain the soreness of my muscles (yay, I've got muscles after all :p) today. I walked around all day like a 72 year old who just happened to be in the local American prison, picking up a soap in the shower and getting it delivered to him from behind for the first time... Guess I'll rest for a day or two now... 24th April 2006 Awesome day. Mildly hungover from a great housewarming party I was to meet up with some new people for outside practice. Arrived at the park around 1:30ish PM and was amazed by the fact that these guys tossed aerials, gainers and backtucks like they were nothing. I got alot of help with my handsprings, straight arms, straight legs... Who woulda thunk it? :P Attempting 540 I realized I need to work out my legs a bit. Well, more like 540 bits, they're just too weak :P I tried some backtucks with spotting and got great instructions on technique. They instantly got better than my feeble attempts on the gymnasium mat, the problem is coordinating them perfectly and remember when to do what really :) We tricked (well, they tricked while I made the area rather uncool with my falls and whatnot =P) for a bit when we decided to go to a martial arts center for indoors practice. I was guided through the backtuck technique by doing it horizontally aka rolling on the floor. After a while I rolled out a worn out bed with springs and attemped some backtucks while spotted. Got the technique better and I tried to do it without spotting. Went great! With a slightly better tuck and me remembering not to relax my legs while landing I recon I can get this move fairly soon! I got a bit cocky and tried a running frontflip but instead of jumping up I just flew forward and with straight legs I hammerkicked the floor with my heel. Damn I can't walk properly now =/ God damnit, I wish I was a woman sometimes, then I wouldn't have the balls to do stupid stuff like this. Okay, sorry for being sexist. I remember back in high school I did a front flip on concrete without every having tried it before. Head hit asphalt and heel slamming in the ground like today. Haha I'm such an idiot. Anywho, practiced some cool martial arts techniques and played around with some of the practice weapons there before I had to leave, I was truly exhausted and my ankle and heel was hurting a great deal. To top it all off, I got into a fight with 5 or 6 kids on subway on my way home... Some people need to work on their attitude before they tick off the wrong guy... 18th April 2006 Great weather, summer is around the corner and what better way to celebrate than go outside and break ones neck? I wanted to practice my backtucks but I realized I was not ready to do it since I didn't have any technique at all yet so I decided to practice handsprings and swift cartwheels (as preparation for aerials). My handsprings are utter crap to say the least. I attempt to run forth, put my hand in the ground, both angles, and kick with my legs and then push with all my might but what happens. I spin around and land sitting down... Bah! The cartwheels got a bit faster but when I remove the hands it all falls flat =)
So today, after karate practice I decided to pull forth the big 1ft thick gymnasium mat (yes, karate practice is in a regular school gymnasium) and pull one of these equally high benches in front of it and attempt a backtuck. I've never attemped a backflip without a spotter mind you, hence the need of security :) So I got up on the bench and after 5 minutes of mental preparation I managed to jump back, twist a bit and land half me on the mat, half me on the floor. Ah well, no injuries, next try, same result but on the mat. Next try I jumped perfectly back! Big whoop! I tried several more of these jumps and constantly landed on my knees. I tried to help my partner-in-crime Maria with her cartwheel as well, which is her white whale. Put the fear aside and just... Go nuts! |
