How to
adjust the size of a frontlacing corset

To adjust the size of your corset is fairly simple. Still, I have noticed that a lot of people do not do this properly. To adjust how tight a front lacing corset is supposed to be laced is absolutely neccesary. If there is a gap at the front, your stomach will stick out, which is neither comfortable nor beautyful

I had sewn the boned side pieces onto the backpart. With a thick thread, I sewed the corset  together around my body as tight as I could. As tight as I can is actually not very tight, because the thread make your breasts and stomack hurt. as you can see at the picture, the front part of your corset will be broader at the top that at the bottom.
Have your waist measurements and your bust measurements while wearing the corset. You can also measure the width of the front opening, but my experience is that the front opening varies far too much to make these measurements useable. Cut the corset open. Have as deep breath and inspect the funny zig zag pattern on your stomach. ettertilpasning.jpg (29515 byte)
Measure your corset. Subract these measurements from the waist and bust measurements you had while wearing the corset. If you when being corsetted had a bust measurement of 100 cm, while your corset had a width of 70 cm, the front part of your corset will be 30 cm broad.
The front part being narrower at the bottom than at the top, may be solved in various ways. When making the broader pieces of plastic boning at the front, I made them narrow down towards the bottom, and make the channels for boning follow them.
Tip: If you do not want your stomach to hurt too badly while adjusting the corset, wear a T-shirt.
OIf you have difficulties when sewing on the corset, you can wear a belt around your hips to make sure that the corset stays on when lacing it. It is difficoult to have no more than two arms.
