Keyboard Crash

By Ken Cassidy

My Technics 5000 "crashed" in mid performance last week. All sounds came out distorted, through a separate amp, VERY embarrassing. I tried through the built in speakers but just the same. The solution?

Press control menu

Press initial button

Press OK

Press YES

Wait for "completed" sign.

Too late for that performance but maybe a help to some one. . . Ken Cassidy

There are numerous symptoms of a keyboard crash. The answer is to initialize the keyboard as Ken did above.

Ken's solution uses the Partial Initial procedure of "How To" item #2. It is the quickest solution because you don't have to turn the keyboard off. When you select PERFORMANCE for the initialization you are setting all of the items listed in the INITIAL menu, to their factory presets. If this process does not clear the crash, or if you are using other MIDI equipment such as a vocalist, try using the procedure listed as Item #1 of the "How To" pages. See Page 177 of your manual.
