Clearing Custom Memory
|
| THE QUESTION: When I want to copy something from the Composer to Custom Memory, I get prompted that there is not enough memory and that sound # (whatever) will have to be replaced (usually a custom drum sound). How can I clear the contents of the Custom Memory in my KN5000? I can't find any way to initialize the Custom Memory. |
| A COMMENT FROM BOB: The symptom described above can result from working with password protected composer files in Custom Memory locations. To my knowledge there is no "single button" way to initialize the keyboard Custom Memory. But, if you create an empty composer file, it can be copied to a Custom Memory location which has the effect of clearing the Custom Memory selected. |
|
FIRST, CREATE AN EMPTY COMPOSER
FILE:
|
| Press the Composer Menu button to display the Composer Menu at the right. Then press the Recording Memory A (assuming you want to clear composer memory A). | ![]() |
| At the RECORD Memory page select Variation 1. This will display the RECORDING page. | ![]() |
| At the RECORDING page, select CLEAR THE ENTIRE PATTERN. This empties Variation 1 of all data. Now press EXIT to go back to the RECORD MEMORY page and select Variation 2. Then Clear the entire pattern for Variation 2. Repeat this process until all variations including the intros, fill ins, and endings have been cleared. At this point you have a completely empty composer pattern. | ![]() |

COPY THE EMPTY COMPOSER FILE
TO A CUSTOM MEMORY LOCATION
|
| Press EXIT until you return to the COMPOSER MENU display. Then press CUSTOM COPY. At the CUSTOM COPY page, use the MEMORY buttons to select the Composer Memory that you want to transfer to the Custom Memory. (For our example, we would choose the empty Memory A). Use the CUSTOM buttons to select the Custom Memory that you want to clear. Be sure that the direction is FROM Memory A to the Custom Memory location that you have selected. The DIRECTION button will toggle copy directions. When you are ready, press OK to copy the file. | ![]() |
