Hello
all, here i'm gonna go through the history of Memorized
Dreams, how it all began, previous members and band names.
It all began back in 1999, when Kaare Jenssen wanted to
start a metal band, he was joined by Stian Rødsjø,
Frode Hovd, Ståle Rosø, and Hugo Rødsjø.
We rehearsed together, and soon Symphonica Divine was formed.
Soon Kenneth Skarsvaag joined on Bass, and the lineup was
complete. In the beginning we played some covers of Helloween,
Stratovarius and other famous power metal band. After a
while we started writing our own songs, and the songs Holy
Land & Ancient Sin was actually made back then..
We played some liveshows, and wrote
more songs, but after a while Ståle Rosø (Vocals)had
to leave the band, because he simply was too busy with his
work. He was soon replaced by Maria Garli, and the band
took a new direction, towards a more rock'ish oriented style,
with female vocals. Some songs were written here aswell,
but after a while the band had once again a change of style,
and we decided a name change would be appropiate, so we
now changed into Dreamscape. We were now playing a kind
of prog metal, like bands like Symphony X & Dream Theater.
We soon realized that this wasn't
us, so after a band meeting, everyone agreed that we should
go back to our roots, and start playing those fast songs
again, and soon Memorized Dreams saw the light of day. After
a while we started recording our first demo, "Mirror
Of Life", and it was during these recording sessions
we discovered the vocal talents of Geir Rosø, so
we asked him to join the band, and luckily he agreed.
The demo was well received all around
the globe with nice reviews. Alot of mails were comming
in, especially from Asia, where people seem to enjoy this
kind of music. We also got an order for 100 cds from DiskHeaven
in Japan, and then things started to get serious. The bands
main goal from the beginning was to achieve a record deal,
and in December 2002, SOUND RIOT RECORDS made an offer to
sign the band. The band was offered a good contract, and
found a label with alot of enthusiasm and a genuine interest
to work with the band. During the summer of 2003, Geir Rosø
left the band, and we we now on the look for a new singer.
The band then started to rehears and write new material
for the forthcomming album "Theater Of Life".
And in November 2003, the band entered Skansen Studio to
record our first full-lenght album. The new singer Terje
Harøy also joined the band during these recordings,
and the lineup was finally complete. In the beginning of
2004, the album was ready to be mastered by no other than
Tommy Newton, famous for his work with artist like Helloween,
Kamelot ++. The album was released in May 2004, and the
feedback has been great!.
