Links
to other web-sites with (Soviet-)Russian cars as their topic, and to sites about other Eastern European vehicles

There is a large number of sites on these subjects on the internet. The following links are just a small selection. There are hours and hours of exitement just waiting for you, and if you should come across anything especially enjoyable, please send us a tip on  migreg@home.no
A "drawback" with Eastern European web sites is the many languages, but quite a lot of the sites have English or German versions. And there are other means of help, as well. Like if you want to check out a web site written in Russian (Cyrillic characters), then first enter either  http://www.translate.ru  or http://www.babelfish.altavista.com   Follow the instructions on the screen, and the Russian site will (more or less) be translated into English, German or French.

The three car manufacturers of which the MIG Register is based, are found at these web sites:

Moskvich (1)
http://www.azlk.ru

There are two official Moskvich sites. Even though the plant has changed its name to OAO Moskvich, they still use the old AZLK name in both web site adresses.

There is no English version. OAO Moskvich went into bankrupcy during May 2002, and the Moskvich plant, incl. the Moskvich museum, were seized by bailiffs. The museum cars were returned after a few days, but four years later (Summer of 2006) there is still no production at the factory. Probably it is closed down for good.

Moskvich (2)
http://www.moskvich-azlk.ru

Second Moskvich site. No English version here either.

IZh (1)
http://www.izh-auto.com

There are three IZh websites on the internet. This one is about car production only, but also in Russian language only. The history section has some very nice pictures.

IZh (2)
http://www.izhmash.ru/eng/

The Izhmash Works have two web-sites in English language. This is the newest. It seems like a new site has been made, without removing the old site.

IZh (3)
http://izhmash.udm.ru/izhmash.html

This is the second IZhmash Works web site, and probably the oldest. The "old" IZh-27156 van is shown here, and according to other sources, that model was discontinued in 2001. Both web sites in English deals with the whole IZhmash Group, including arms production, motor vehicles, motorcycles etc.

IZh (4)
http://eng.izhmoto.ru/

The motorcycle division of IZh. English language.

GAZ (Volga)
http://www.gaz.ru/

This is the official web site of the GAZ Works. A new version from November 2002 also includes a section in English. (There is a link to the English section on the opening page). The encoding sometimes has to be set manually, if you want to see the Cyrillic characters.
Information on the GAZ cars are found on another website as well.
