Volpino Italiano is closely related to the German klein zwergspitzerne and the English Pomeranian.
Volpinon is an old breed that developed in Italy.
This race was a was used as a guard dog in the Italian vineyards, due to its sharp barking, and as companion dog to upper-class ladies.

Breed Standard:
The head should be proportionerlig and cone-shaped with rounded skull.
MOUTH: scissor bite. The eyes should be normal sized. They should be dark brown with a lively expression. The ears should be triangular, short and upright.
The body should be slightly rectangular. Breast Korgen should be well developed and long with small revbein. Withers should be pronounced. His back should be straight.
The tail should be fairly long and with a lot of fur. It is to be sitting high and carried over the back towards the neck. The movements should be normal for the type.
The hair should be long, thick and protruding. The color should be solid white, but one can seldom time to occur in red color.
Males: 27-30 cm. Females: 25-28 cm.

GENERAL APPEARANCE: The breed seems attractive with its beautiful fur, which, because of the abundant during the wool stands out from the body.

Spitz dogs belong to the oldest dog types, and can be traced back to the first dogs, humans associated with them for approx. 5000 years ago.
Eventually they developed as a hunting and guard dogs. Klein Spitz `one occurred in Germany, and is the second smallest of the group Germanwings Spitz, which preferably has been used as guard dogs.
As interest in dog breeds grew in late 1800 and early 1900's, was made a division of the German Spitz, and the different types were gradually stabilized.
German Spitz divided into 5 groups:
Zwergspitz (Pomeranian): 20 cm + / - 2 cm,
Klein Spitz: 26 cm + / - 3 cm,
Mittelspitz: 34 cm + / - 4 cm,
Grosspitz: 46 cm + / - 4 cm
Wolf Spitz (Keeshond): 49 cm + / - 6 cm
