Buy Digital Now! Chart Info: More would get to #9
in the UK and #153 in the
USA. Album Info: It took them only eight days to record the
music. Bird Noises on "Cirrus Minor" are from a BBC Sound Effect LP
(The "Dawn Chorus" track). The same sound effect was to be used
briefly in the song "All We Ever Look For" on Kate Bush's 1980
"Never For Ever" LP. "Sea Birds" is an unrealesed track and
evidently the entire song (3 verses) is in the movie.Unfortunately, it's played
as background music for a party scene, so one can't hear i too well. The version
of "Cymbaline" used in the film is different than the version that
appears on the album realese. It has two different lines at the end of the
first verse, and Roger sings the song (David Gilmour sings on the LP track)!!
The tracks in the film are just bits and rarely the whole song, but i thought
you'd like to know what this rare film contains. The film premiered on 8/4/69 in
New York City. This film was supposedly never shown in the UK. Always one of the most under-rated items in the
Pink Floyd canon, "More" is something of a gem. Recorded during one
week at Abbey Road in March 1969, for a Barbert Schroeder's movie of the same
name, "More" was an intermission in the Floyd's quest for the Great
Work (they took time off "More" is also one of the Floyd's most
musically varied albums, ranging from straight heavy metal like "The Nile
Song" through to acoustic ballads ("Crying Song"), via abstract
electronics ("Quicksilver"), blues pastiches like "More
Blues" and musical "jokes" like Gilmour's "A Spanish
Piece". "More" was directed by Barbet
Schroeder. Musicians Featured: David Gilmour: Guitars, Vocals
from recording their intended magnum opus
"Ummagumma" to work on this soundtrack album). It exhibits the more
pastoral side of the Floyd, and showcases them at their most relaxed. Waters in
particular-- who composed the lion's share, including such in-concert staples as
"Cymbaline" and
"Green Is The Colour"--displays
impressive development as a songwriter.
Nick Mason: Drums
Roger Waters: Bass Guitar, Vocals
Rick Wright: Keyboard, Vocals
