Ole Arntsen Høiem and Marit
this photo is the oldest in our family. It was taken around 1874. At that time, a labourer´s day wage was required to take a small photo like this, ca 8 by 12 cm. This couple was small peasants, living basically outside of money economy, so it must have been quite a grand day, when they went to have their picture taken!
They got Arnt (1863), Lava (1867, died 1868 from cholera, Isak (1869), Marit (1876)
their son
Arnt O. Aalberg (1863-) married Anne
Christiansdatter Graneggen (1861-19) and got Marit (1887), Ole (1893) and Arne
(1901). Arne left for USA in the twenties,
and settled in Seattle, after years as a salmon-fisher aboard ships in Alaska.
their other son, Isak (1869- 1944), went to become a priest in Chicago.
His wife: Maren Eggen,children were Mabel Alida, Margaret Iverine, Mildred Ingeborg, Otniel Milford.

Røkenes (from Nordland), and got six children, Gerd, Solveig, Edel, Kristian
(1926) (my father), Rolf and Georg. Kristian married Målfrid Lundhaug (1941),
and got Rune (1962) and me. Olav (1963)
