Dragon of the Draco Ultimus order, of the type most common in western thought: big, winged, four limbs and so forth.
His scales glitter in all the colours of a beautiful sunset. Around his neck he wears an Ankh, a sign of virtue.
Sunset is a young adult dragon, not anywhere near as strong or tough as the huge ancient ones -- but still capable
of crushing most other creatures without breaking into the dragon equivalent of a sweat, and capable (when it's
warm enough) of the most impressive exertions. Despite appearing worryingly
unaerodynamic, Sunset can fly well, although he tires fairly quickly. He can carry about three normal-sized people
on his back, but would prefer not to.
Being cold-blooded, he needs a lot of sunlight to keep up his internal temperature, and is therefore a lot more
active in the daytime. His energy levels are largely dictated by the amount of sunlight available, as well as external
temperature. At night-time and in cold weather he has to conserve his magical flame to keep himself warm, and his
activities are restricted accordingly. He is much more vulnerable at such times, and a drastic temperature drop
would have disastrous results. On the other hand, heat does not affect him -- he could bathe in molten lava (and
would relish the experience). He sleeps for about nine hours a day, when he can manage it.
Sunset is good-humoured and not easily angered, which is good news for those around him. You'd have to really
provoke him before he attacked you, and even then you'd only do it once...
Sunset, along with Paganini, Morwen, Karlingalas, Freaksaus and Zorag, was transported from Balrog Cuttings to an alternate Castle Hare by an interdimensional rift, where his appearance understandably caused a certain amount of consternation among the locals. Since he was far too large to wander round castle corridors, he flew up to the roof to sleep and await the return of the expedition to the library.
Some time later, waking up and finding that they have still not returned, he decided to make a tour of reconnaisance around the castle. Flying east, he lost his temper at the wanton destruction of the invading armies and attacked, but underestimated their strength and was wounded and driven off. Landing in a forest, he encountered Meneldil the Ent, who healed him and transported him back to his cave, where Sunset told him of his adventures. Meneldil warned him that the journey back to the Castle will have to be made on foot as the skies are now too dangerous, but offered to journey with him. However, en route to the Castle, both Sunset and Spot the Mûmak who was carrying him disappeared. Spot has since returned, but Sunset is still missing.
