RACE: Hyeronian Zorag
PROFESSION: Leader of the western army attacking Hyeron
WORLD OF ORIGIN: Terra Hyeroniae
FIRST APPEARANCE: Lone Wolf (mentioned, but not named, in A Knight To Remember - Part Two)

DESCRIPTION:

Zorag the Barbarian is a sight few have witnessed and lived to describe. Well over two metres tall and weighing about as much as a baby Mûmak, this two-headed monstrosity is terrible to behold. Eschewing weapons in favour of his fangs and his clawlike grip, Zorag won to himself a band of cut-throats and brigands in far-off lands before setting his cap at a greater target: Castle Hare, the citadel of legend. Whispered rumour had it that he bore a longstanding grudge against the inhabitants of the castle: his ghastly sire Zorban had been defeated and killed by Glaneth, last of the Elf-heroes, and though hundreds of years had passed and the Elves had vanished from Hyeron, Zorag had sworn to trample his enemy's home into the ground and feast on its inhabitants. When the forces of darkness stirred and first began to move against Hyeron, Zorag by main force took control of the western army and destroyed the force led against him by Paganini the Queen's Champion. Trusting to a legend, Paganini took what few knights remained to him and went in search of the one weapon that he believed could defeat the monster - the Knife of Glaneth.

HISTORY:

Jared entered the camp of the western army and after some time his antics drew the attention of Zorag the Barbarian, who grudgingly agreed to grant him an audience. Jared sweet-talked him into essaying the path through the forest to the village as an unguarded route to Castle Hare, but Zorag made sure that Jared too was coming along for the ride.
When the ambush began, Zorag laid about himself with vigour, knocking both Jared and Morwen for six, but taking what appeared to be a slight wound to his left arm from Morwen's knife in the process. His raging reaction indicated that the knife, as Paganini had surmised, was indeed capable of damaging him. Paganini took up the knife and challenged the monster to a duel, which headed for the inevitable conclusion when the tireless demon, energised by the fire around him, broke Paganini's arm and went in for the kill. It was Jared's accidental intervention that laid the monster low, and with his last strength Paganini slit both Zorag's throats. He is now presumed extremely dead.

This Zorag is not to be confused with his Balrog Cuttings alter ego, Zorag the Scarlet-Clad Scimitar-Wielding Sidekick Shiekh Zorag.
